The flagship wine of Tenuta Canto alla Moraia, this “Supertuscan” is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese. Rich and complex, it starts off with cherries and blackberries and develops aromas of black tea, tar, and leather. Oaky aromas of vanilla and sweet spices are well integrated and bring a nice balance to the wine. Everything is rounded together with a long and persistent finish.
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Merlot
Production Country: Italy
Named after the mulberry trees that grow on the estate, Tenuta Canto alla Moraia is based in Colli Aretini of Tuscany, with 11ha of vines, all renewed in 2002. Certified organic in 2009, they embarked further on a path of making wine in harmony with nature, and have begun practicing biodynamic winemaking as well. Little to no mechanization is used in the production process with horses ploughing the soil and using geese for cleaning the vineyards. Once hand-picked and sorted the grapes are usually destemmed and crushed, then undergo a slow fermentation in stainless steel, followed by aging up to three years in tonneau.
