Astonishingly elegant, it seduces with aromas of dried violets, red cherries and autumn leaves. Extremely fragrant on the nose yet subtle, with lots of complex aromas ranging from floral notes to sweet spices, vanilla and black tea. It lingers on the palate with long lasting flavours in harmony with the aromas on the nose, and the wonderfully polished tannins give the wine a divine texture.

Started off in the 1970s as a hobby, Domenico Berni purchased a small plot on “Contrada El Petroso”, a slope that was planted with vines since the 14th century and thus started the story of Pietroso. Firstly making wine for friends and family, it was them that encouraged him to start making wine full-time, professionally. Today, the winery has three separate vineyards near the town of Montalcino and is run by his grandnephews. The grapes are hand harvested, and sustainable practices are used whenever possible. The fruit from different vineyards is vinified separately, on indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, and aged in large Slavonian casks.
